The Letterbox Trilogy

What better way to round out Season of the Trilogy than going with some 1980s horror as we tackle The Letterbox Trilogy: Videodrome, The Video Dead and Halloween III: Season of the Witch.
This week's episode finds us delving into the relationship between television and the viewer and the downsides of growing too attached on that medium. 
One of these movies attacks that question really well, one of them does not at all, and one of them is a lot better than you might think.

The Red Flower Trilogy

We are back with the first of our constructed trilogies, The Red Flower Trilogy.
This trilogy consists of: Resolution (2012), Synchronic (2019), & The Endless (2017).
This three movie series from directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead is centered on the weird goings on in the boonies of San Diego's East County region and whatever is controlling them.
We then take a pitstop in New Orleans for the second movie to explore the consequences of an over-powered synthetic drug.
Join us as we dive into all aspects of this directing duo's unique takes on the horror genre.

It's October baby! You know what that means...Not PSLs, you basic-ass MFer!
It's time for The Occasionalists' monthlong celebration of all things spooky, The Fright Fest! We discuss why we changed the name of our annual festival of all things horror and discuss this year's format: The Trilogy!
You get some history on the trilogy as a story structure, what makes it so lucrative for movie studios and how the intricate cinematic universes of today can thank the horror movie franchises of the 1980s for making them so much damn money.
Plus we unveil how we are going to attack the trilogy in the subsequent episodes this month.

Sports Kickoff Season 7

We are dusting off the shoulder pads, cleats and of course, our balls, to get ready for our first sports episode of the new season. What are we talking about this time?
College football. The Browns. Note Dame. Cornfields. 40 year old football players. Roller derby. 7-footers who can shoot. A very particular disgusting LA Dodgers Pitcher. Guarding things.
