This month, we are having a series of discussions with people who have some expertise in a particular subject. To kick off our "Ask The Experts" month, the pod is bringing back sometimes guest star Greg Cherry to talk about standup comedy.
A budding comedian himself, Greg gives us the lowdown on what got him into comedy, his experience working his way through the ranks and some of the unexpected obstacles in the comedy world.

The Gatekeepers: Know Your Sports

Despite some delays, the final episode of The Gatekeepers is here! 
January wraps up with a deeper look at the play mechanics and rules of sports to give a casual fan (or not a fan at all) a look at what separates each sport from the other, some interesting sports trivia, and the barriers that have hindered certain sports from catching on with more people.
We also take a look at one of the most intense in-group vs. out-group examples: sports fanaticism and how those particular in-groups might be intentionally or unintentionally keeping others from enjoying the sport.

We are rolling through January with an episode about Gym Culture and what it's like to be an outsider trying to get in.

The Gatekeepers: Artificial Intelligence

Welcome on into another new year here at The Occasionalists!
We kick off 2023 with a month called, The Gatekeepers. We're going to talk about some subjects that seemingly have a lot of barriers to entry or perhaps even individuals separating the in-group from the out-group.
The first episode this month delves into new tech, specifically, the sudden ubiquity of artificial intelligence.
Is it really that intelligent? How can you use it? And will you just help your parents with their Facebook accounts already?! 

The Occasionalists Theme Draft

Our final episode of the year is in and it's putting all of you on the clock to listen. We wrap up 2022 the same way we did with 20221, by setting up the next year.
This time, we decided to go all in and used our collective resources to hire Roger Goodell to host our first ever....drum roll...Occasionalists Theme Draft!
We are drafting all 12 months of the year this time, with each of us choosing the month and the theme. Who got the steal of the draft? Who reached on a pick? Will Mr. Irrelevant make an impact on his new team?

The Occasionalists are back to round out Sports November, the final themed month of the year, with a deep dive into the most prominent form of sports entertainment in the world...WRASSLIN'!
This is a true megasode as we start with wrestling's beginnings in Civil War-era circuses and bring it all the way up to the modern age of highflyers diving into the announce table for YouTube views.
We see what has and hasn't changed since our time as regular wrestling viewers, discuss some of our favorite memories as young fans, and see if anything in the modern era might pull us back in.
